The hybrid version of Mitsubishi’s popular crossover was highly anticipated in the American market. It finally arrived for the 2018 model year, and now it’s already upping its game with updates to its powertrain and its styling for the 2019 model year.
The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has updates to both its gas component and its electronic component. The previous model year was equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV gets its gas power from a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This new engine is said to produce more torque and greater efficiency, though the exact numbers have yet to be released.
The electric portion of the powertrain also sees some improvements. Its battery capacity is up from 12.0 kWh to 13.8 kWh, which is expected to increase the vehicle's all electric driving range.
